“Retiree Robert Smith, 64, turned to self-employment to ‘stay off the streets.’ The added income, he said, is not necessary, but a nice bonus.

“’I don't want to work full time, but I want to work all I want to,’ said Smith, who is an independent customer-service representative working 25 to 30 hours weekly from his Anthem home. He contracts with WillowCSN, which routes calls from several corporate clients to independent customer-service agents.”
